Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions set out the basis on which Food Matters at the Barn will provide services to you and anyone you book a cookery course / session for. By booking a cookery course / session  with Food Matters at the Barn, you agree to accept these terms and conditions on behalf of yourself and anyone else you make a booking for.

Your booking is non-transferable to another person, however all 6 week cookery courses run continuously, so if you are unable to attend one class, space permitting, you can come back for that particular lesson during the next cycle. Please note that we currently can only accept cooks of 18 years and above at the cookery school and do not offer children’s cookery classes.

Dietary Requirements e.g. Food Allergies and Intolerances

Food Matters at the Barn agrees to provide the cookery courses / sessions with reasonable care and skill.  You are responsible for ensuring that the details you submit when booking are correct and up to date. In particular, you must inform us of any dietary requirements e.g. food allergies or intolerances. Where you a booking a cookery course / session for someone else you will be responsible for confirming that the dietary requirement e.g. food allergy or intolerance information is correct.

 Although every care is taken to avoid cross-contamination with other allergens, due to the nature of the operation there is a small risk that food prepared/served on site may contain other allergens not specified. 

Whilst we will endeavor to provide the cookery course / session in accordance with our menu specified, we reserve the right to make variations to the dishes.  Nothing in these terms and conditions affects or limits your statutory rights.

Liability

We shall not have any liability to you for accidental damage or injury resulting from the actions or omissions of anyone attending a cookery course / session (except where this arises from the negligence of Food Matters at the Barn); any loss of income or revenue, loss of profits or contracts; or any damages or losses that you may suffer as a result of our breach of contract or negligence. 

Health & Safety & Personal Hygiene

All participants who are cooking will receive a short briefing on health and safety before commencing working in the kitchen. We accept no liability for personal injury, or any loss of or damage to personal property. Please see separate personal hygiene policy here, we are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothes or jewellery.

Booking & Payment

Booking must be made by contacting us by telephone and filling in the appropriate booking form. A £30 deposit is required to confirm the booking.  Payment must be made in full at the time of commencement of the cookery course / session. 

Cancellations of the Cookery Course / Session by us

If we cancel the cookery course / session   for any reason we will seek to organize an alternative date within a reasonable period of time. If this is not possible, or you are unable to attend an alternative date, we will refund the full deposit paid.

Cancellations of the Course Cookery / Session by you 

Cancellation by you means that the deposit can be transferred to secure another date within 6 months, if another date is not booked the deposit will not be refunded.

Proprietary Information

We have worked hard at creating our name, logo, resources and building out our website and social media presence. In particular we run our cookery courses / sessions based on our own carefully tried and tested recipes (our Proprietary Information). 

Except as provided for below, you may not copy, redistribute, republish or otherwise make our Proprietary Information available to anyone else without our prior consent.

You may copy, print or download materials that we provide to you for your own personal use provided that no materials are modified in any way, no graphics are used separately from accompanying test and no copyright notices are removed.

Publicity and Advertising

We want to share what we do at Food Matters At the Barn but we have our own marketing strategy. Other than sharing our social media posts, you should not use our name, trademark, logos, photos, recipes or other materials we have produced in any advertising, brochures, press release, or other promotional materials or in any other promotional manner without our prior consent. 

Website Linking 

If you would like to link to our website you must comply with the following guidelines:

obtain our prior consent to link to your website by writing to foodmattersni@gmail.com with your name, the name of your company/business, the website you wish to link to and the details about the proposed linking activity including what you would like to use and for what purpose;  

do not incorporate any of our website content into your website (by framing, in-lining or creating other browser environments around our website content). You may only link to our website by providing a textual link to our home page: www.foodmattersatthebarn.com (Permitted Link);

do not present a Permitted Link in a way that suggests we have any relationship or affiliation or that we endorse your website, goods or services;

do not give false information about us, our products or services;

comply with our Proprietary Information term above; and

your site must not contain content that us unlawful, offensive or discriminatory.

Parking

Whilst we offer limited parking at the premises of Food at the Barn, we do not accept any responsibility or liability whatsoever for any accidents, damages or losses arising from the use of the parking spaces.  The use of the car parking spaces is done at your own risk.
